Just like our name sake, penguins are adaptable, sociable and work well in a team! Mrs Warren is the class teacher in Penguin class on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and Ms Fletcher teaches us all day on a Wednesday. We are also lucky this year as we have an additional team teacher called Mrs Musty, who will be taking groups for English and Maths in the hall Monday to Thursday, in Terms 1 and 2. Our lovey teaching assistants are Mrs Crocker (Monday – Thursday) and Mrs Woodhams (Friday). Penguin PE days are Mondays and Thursdays and we change our books on Tuesdays and Fridays. We have lots of fun and creative things planned for Year 1, so keep an eye out for the curriculum updates on the Curriculum Maps section of the school website, where we will load the overview of the termly plans.
Ms Fletcher is also the SEND coordinator, (along with Mrs Park), and will also be leading intervention groups in Year 1 and 2 on a Tuesday and Thursday morning for children who need additional support for whatever reason. You will be informed if your child is involved in interventions.

Year 1 Campfire
On Thursday 3rd November all the Year 1 children went up to the woods to collect firewood and then made a campfire. This was an activity that launched the new year 1 topic “Pop, Whizz, Bang” for this term. All the children enjoyed being outdoors, singing campfire songs and toasting their own marshmallows to eat!
You can see from the displays in our classrooms the variety of topics we cover. As the year progresses, the displays change. By July, you will be able to see the whole range of subjects we have covered. Our Working walls help us learn – the content builds as the term progresses.
You are welcome to come in and meet us all and see the lovely work that we do!
