Meeting Dates:
- Committee meetings run for the hour before FGB.
- Occasional staff presentations will take place for the first 15mins of committee meetings to provide all governors with valuable information. Committee meetings will then start at 5.45pm and FGB meetings will start at 6.30pm.
- Governors will be informed if there is a presentation with the meeting paperwork.

Who We Are
Jason Pearce
Co-opted, SEND and inclusion link governor and curriculum committee
Jason works as a senior lecturer at Bath Spa University on their undergraduate and postgraduate initial teacher education (ITE) programmes. He began as a teaching assistant in Oxfordshire before completing his PGCE at Oxford Brookes University. He then spent a number of years as a teacher, phase leader and subject leader mainly across two schools, one of which was Bromley Heath Juniors, before moving into ITE. As a member of the curriculum committee, he is interested in an evidence-based approach to school improvement that works for the school’s unique context. In his role as SEND and inclusion link governor, Jason is passionate about fostering a positive ethos of inclusion and representation for all pupils and other stakeholders in the wider school community.
Joanna Hill
Parent governor, Finance Committee
Joanna is a Chartered Accountant (ACA) and Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA), who works as a Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Finance at the University of the West of England. She focuses on teaching Taxation and professional development, supporting and coaching students to develop their employability skills beyond their technical knowledge. Joanna is keen to use her professional experience to support the experience of the children attending Bromley Heath Infants.
Sarah Cook
Chair of Governors, Curriculum Committee
Sarah is a secondary school teacher (BSc(Hons), PGCE) who has held various middle and senior leadership roles across a number of schools. She is currently working as part of the school improvement team for a trust of schools, including primaries and secondaries. She has two primary school aged children, and is also involved with other voluntary activities in the Downend area.
Sarah has been a governor at Bromley Heath Infants since 2022, and took on the chair role in September 2024. “I wanted to be able to use my professional experience and expertise to give back to the school that has supported my children so well.”
Mel Shepherd
Co-Opted Governor, Finance Committee
Melissa works for Lloyds Banking Group in Commercial Banking and has been with the organisation for 25 years. During her career, she has held a range of roles, including management positions, and being a CeMAP-qualified Mortgage Adviser. Both of her teenage children attended Bromley Heath Infant and Junior Schools. Melissa has been a school governor since 2021, initially joining as an associate member before becoming a co-opted governor in 2023. She values the opportunity the role provides to remain involved in, and give back to, the local community.
Daniel Wilde
Co-Opted Governor, Finance Committee
Dan is Head of Internal Audit for the Somerset Bridge Group, who are an Insurance company. Dan has worked in Internal Audit since 2008, starting in Local Government (completing audits of schools) before moving into Social Housing, and later Financial Services. Over the years Dan has held roles with some of the UKs most recognised organisations including Aviva and Nationwide. Dan is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Internal Audit (CIIA) and contributes to his profession through authoring case
studies for chartered examinations and presenting at conferences. In 2025, Dan was recognised at the Audit & Risk Awards where he won the Internal Audit Innovation Award. Dan became a governor when his daughter joined reception in 2024, and wanted to use his skills and experience to help BHI continue to thrive.
Neil Pearce
Vice Chair, Chair of Finance
As a local parent with three children—one currently at BHIS and two who have moved up to the Juniors—I am deeply committed to the success and heart of our school. I’m a firm believer that a school’s budget isn’t just about spreadsheets; it’s about providing the best possible environment for our children to grow. My goal is to ensure that Bromley Heath remains a place where every child can thrive, supported by a solid and sustainable financial foundation.
In my professional life, I’m a Chartered Quantity Surveyor at Gleeds, where I spend my days forecasting and managing development budgets, procuring construction contracts, and navigating HR. I bring that same conscientious approach to my role as Chair of Finance, ensuring our resources are used effectively to deliver the best outcomes for our pupils.
Outside of work and the school run, I’m a huge rugby fan. That “team-first” mentality is something I carry into my Governor role—working collaboratively with the school leadership and fellow governors to reach our common goals.

Mike Bird
Parent Governor, Chair of Curriculum Committee
Mike became a parent governor in 2023 and was appointed as Chair of Curriculum committee in 2024. He has one child at Bromley Heath Infants and one at Bromley Heath Juniors. He is a Chartered Engineer serving time as a Programme Manager at Rolls-Royce. Having worked with other government departments he is keen to use this experience to support and give back to the school that has and is providing an Outstanding environment for his children.
Outside of work Mike is Cricket Coach at Downend Cricket Club and enjoys keeping fit through a variety of sports including cycling, swimming and tennis.
