Admissions

Children in South Gloucestershire are eligible for full time education if they have reached their fourth birthday by 31st August, in the year they are due to start. Bromley Heath Infant School has an intake of 60 children into the Foundation Stage classes each year; they are organised into two classes of 30 children. This complies with the government’s guidance on infant class sizes.

South Gloucestershire’s Local Education Service co-ordinates admission to the Foundation Stage and in-year admission, which the school then facilitates.  Further details for both in-year or Foundation Stage admissions can be found online at www.southglos.gov.uk/admissions (including a link to the appeal process) or in the booklet ‘Information for Parents – Admission to Schools in South Gloucestershire’ South Gloucestershire School Admissions 2025. In the event of the school being over-subscribed, please see the following link for how South Gloucestershire would manage this. Over-subscribed South Gloucestershire Schools 2025. We have close links with our partner junior school and all year two children are eligible to transfer automatically to Bromley Heath Junior School at the end of the year on completion of a transfer form during the year.

We operate an induction programme for the children entering the Foundation Stage to ensure that they settle into school life successfully as well as ‘stay and play’ sessions and parent meetings in the summer term. Visits to the school for prospective new Foundation Stage parents take place in October and November (sessions available to book are listed on our front page https://www.bromleyheathinfantschool.co.uk/); for in-year admissions, please contact the school office to visit the school.
