About the Friends
The Friends of Bromley Heath Infant School (FOS) would like to take this opportunity to tell everyone about the FOS and the fund-raising events due to be held throughout this school year. The FOS is a vital and valued source of funding for the school and helps to provide many items not funded by the Government. For those who were unable to attend the recent AGM, we were very pleased to announce that last year was a bumper year for fundraising and, with everyone’s continual support, we were able to donate more than we have ever done before.
The committee meet about once a month at school during the evening. We usually have sub committees to organise each event which spreads the workload more evenly. If you would like more information please see any of the committee members or talk to the school.
Fund Raisers and Donations
Money raised since Sept 2007
- Ladies Night - £1268 - always a good night and one of our top money makers.
- Xmas Bazar - £1284 - the kids always enjoy this, everything aimed at them and not too much for the adults. A visit from Santa was a great success again.
- Santa letters - £290
- Cake Sales - £300 - We have one of these at the end of each half term and they are always very popular. We make about £100 on each one.
- Invitation Books - £437 - This was a great success this year. A little bit of effort from the committee to get the books out and back in again but we got £4 for each one we sold.
- Bags to School - £125 - This is the bag that goes home once a year for any second-hand clothes etc. We are then paid by the weight we collect.
- Easter Disco - £191 - ever popular with the kids. They had a great time and all went home with a small Easter gift.
- Quiz Night - £280 - not as well supported as we would have liked but still made a healthy profit
Donations
So far since September we have raised just over £4,000 for the school and the children and a large proportion of this has been donated to school in the following ways. £1,000 has been given to help fund the school trips, which will take place in terms 5 and 6. We have also paid for the school’s TV licence of £130. More recently you may have noticed that all the classrooms have new flat screen pc monitors, which have again been funded through the FOS. These 13 monitors cost £1,325. Finally £200 was given to each class teacher for them to spend as they wish within their classroom; this was a further £1,200 donated. We still have some funds to give and at present are in discussion with the staff as to how it should be spent. We will keep you updated.
